    BILLINGS, Mont. (BP) -- Six church plants and a new three-year partnership with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention were among highlights of the Montana Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting.

    The convention, known in-state as Refresh Montana, held its Oct. 5-6 sessions at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Billings, where Paul Jones has been pastor for 28 years.

    "Ministry in Montana is challenging on many levels," Executive Director Barrett Duke told the 203 attendees, which included 89 messengers from 52 of the state convention's 135 churches.     SEELEY LAKE, Mont. (BP) -- With wildfires in the western United States having consumed a cumulative area larger than the state of Maryland, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief units are preparing for ministry.

    Nine western states -- California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming -- have experienced fires this year that have consumed more than 8 million total acres, 3 million above the annual national average for the past decade, according to The Washington Post.     MISSOULA, Mont. (BP) -- Montana Southern Baptist Convention (MTSBC) President Darren Hales described the group's 2016 annual meeting as having the "feel of a missions conference and the impact of a revival service."

    Southern Baptist Convention President Steve Gaines spoke during the meeting and "stoked the fire for spiritual renewal through prayer," Hales said. And Don Pierson, pastor of Stewart's Chapel Baptist Church in Flintville, Tenn., led the group in focused prayer at the meeting's prayer summit. Read More

    BILLINGS, Mont. (BP) -- Montana Baptists will send one percent more of their Cooperative Program receipts to national and international Southern Baptist Convention causes in 2015 than in 2014.

    Messengers to the Montana annual meeting and pastors’ conference voted to give to the national SBC 25 percent of an anticipated $523,000 in Cooperative Program gifts from Montana churches, compared to the 24 percent given this year, Montana Baptists reported to Baptist Press.
