SBC DIGEST: Associational leaders’ first virtual conference; Guidestone webcast on COVID-19’s impact

SBCAL to host a virtual conference on ‘Relational
Proficiencies in a Post-COVID World’

By SBCAL Staff

MCDONOUGH, Ga. (BP) — For the first time in its history, the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders (SBCAL) will stream a virtual conference rather than meet in person. The conference, to be held Thursday, April 30, from 1-5 p.m. Eastern, is titled, “Relational Proficiencies in a Post-COVID World.”

The SBCAL equips, encourages and networks associational leaders throughout the year. The group will not meet this year for its Annual Conference due to the earlier cancellation of the SBC’s Annual Meeting in Orlando.

SBCAL president Ray Gentry noted that building and deepening relationships have never been more important. He added that now is the time to help pastors and churches rise up and emerge stronger from this crisis.

Conference presenters will be contributors to the upcoming book, “The Baptist Association: Assisting Churches, Advancing the Gospel.” Associational speakers include Bob Lowman, Charlotte, N.C.; Bob Dean, Dallas; Jim Breeden, St. Louis; Brian Nall, Pensacola, Fla; and Todd Robertson, Louisville, Ky.

Southern Baptist entity leaders scheduled to address the conference include LifeWay Christian Resources president Ben Mandrell, International Mission Board president Paul Chitwood, North American Mission Board president Kevin Ezell, GuideStone Financial Resources president O. S. Hawkins, and SBC Executive Committee president and CEO Ronnie Floyd.

There is no cost to participate in the virtual conference, but Associational Mission strategists and those who wish to take part must register at www.SBCAL2020.org.
