Bible Passages: John 9:7-9, 13-17, 24-25
Discussion Questions: How can you share what you know about Jesus? If others asked you about the difference Jesus has made in your life, how would you respond?
Food for Thought:
Believers can be reluctant to share their testimonies because they think they need to have a dramatic conversion experience or speak from a framework of deep theological knowledge. Wrong! You must simply tell the difference Jesus has made in your life. And as a believer, you know the most important something about the most important Someone.
The Gospel of John recorded seven significant signs, or miracles, that revealed Jesus' true nature. This Scripture passage records the sixth sign, when Jesus healed a man who had been blind from birth. And while the Pharisees struggled to figure out this miraculous healing (vv. 17-24), the healed man refused to back down and deny what Jesus had done for him. Instead, the healed man boldly recounted his experience to the Pharisees. He praised God for his newfound ability to see. The man gave glory to God by affirming his conviction about Jesus. This was the opposite of what the Pharisees had intended. In this narrative Jesus demonstrated the truth of His claim that He is the Messiah and the Light of the world.
Talk about a dramatic change! A man who had been blind from birth, a beggar with low social standing, suddenly gained his sight and found himself telling community leaders about it. What can we learn from the man's example? First, no one can tell your testimony. It is your experience, yours to tell. Additionally, tell what you know. Keep it simple, and keep it real!
Will you let people see the difference Jesus makes in you?
