Baptist brothers share gift of love with Afghan children

ALMA, Mo. (BP)–Like most children across the nation, the Castillo brothers heard about President Bush’s call for every child to contribute $1 to the America’s Fund for Afghan Children. The Castillos heeded that call in October through their school, but took it one step further.

“We went around the campus and knocked on doors,” said Josh Castillo, 10.

His brother, Stephen, 8, added, “We asked if they would give $1 or anything for the children of Afghanistan, and they gave $1 or change or a check.”

In all, the boys collected $130 to send to the Afghan children’s fund.

“It makes me feel good to do this,” Josh said.

Brothers Seth, 7, and James, 5, also aided in the fundraising. The boys also wrote two letters to the president saying they were praying for him.

They are the sons of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary students Stephanie and Tim Castillo, pastor of Three Groves Baptist Church in Alma, Mo.
